UH unveils Bill Yeoman statue at TDECU Stadium

HOUSTON – It was fan appreciation day at the University of Houston on Sunday and the highlight was the unveiling of a new statue honoring former longtime football coach Bill Yeoman.

The statue is located at Gate 1 at TDECU Stadium.

"It is a staggering honor, for crying out loud, to have this kind of recognition, and particularly when you had so much fun doing it," Yeoman said.

Yeoman coached the Cougars from 1962 to 1986. He won four Southwest Conference championships and had a career record of 160-108-8. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

"He's a legend," Houston head football coach Tom Herman said. "He's a Hall of Famer, and he's ours. He's one of us. Which is really, really neat."
