Astronaut Scott Kelly reaches halfway point of his year in space

HOUSTON –  Astronaut Scott Kelly is excited after hitting the halfway point in his year-long mission on the International Space Station.

Kelly and his Russian counterpart are on an extended mission designed for scientists to better understand the effects of longer spaceflights on the human body.

Scientists are comparing data between Kelly and his identical twin brother, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, throughout the mission and beyond to examine the effects of microgravity.
