MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Friends and family gathered at Caney Creek High School on Tuesday night to remember a teenager killed in a car crash.
Thomas Lavora, also known as "TJ" died Monday night after he lost control of his vehicle on Highway 105 near Faulkner Road. According to investigators, the car flipped over several times and crashed into two trees.Â
"The state trooper pulled into my driveway and I went to him and asked if they had my son," said Dora Ramirez, Lavora's mother. "They said no and I was still looking in the backseat for him, but he was not there."
Lavora attended Caney Creek High School through his junior year. This year he was being home-schooled and had plans to go to college.Â
"He was full of energy, always with a big smile, always playing around, always with a good attitude," Ramirez said.
More than 50 of his classmates and family members lit candles and shared memories of Lavora outside the high school Tuesday night.Â
"I was so impressed by all the people he touched and you hear everyone say the same thing, he like to make people laugh," said Victor Ramirez, Lavora's stepfather.
Ramirez said his stepson had dreams to be an accountant or a rapper.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is now investigating the exact cause of the crash.
