Car crashes into side of Baytown gas station

BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police and the fire department were on the  scene where a vehicle hit the side of a gas station convenience store.

The crash happened at about 2:30 Thursday afternoon at a Chevron gas station in the 5500 block of North Main Street near Rollingbrook.

Baytown police said a 75-year-old driver was pulling into a handicap parking space in front of the store when he hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. His Chevrolet van jumped the curb and smashed into the store.

The van hit some shelves, and a female shopper, who suffered minor scrapes.

The driver was not injured. No charges have been filed.
