Double shooting leaves one dead inside northwest Houston apartment

HOUSTON – A man was killed and his uncle wounded during a shooting inside a northwest Houston apartment Thursday morning.

Police were called just before 3 a.m. to the apartment in the Dominion Square complex. According to police, around 1:30 a.m. an unknown man was let into the upstairs apartment shared by Patrick Petitt, 35, and Craig Miller, 51. Miller heard them arguing and saw the man shoot Petitt, killing him, according to investigators. Police said Miller was shot in the back while trying to take the gun from the man.

The shooter then ran from the apartment, police said.

Miller was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said.

Investigators said a juvenile was also in the home at the time of the shooting.
