HOUSTON – Four inmates tried to escape the Harris County Jail Wednesday night, authorities said.
Harris County sheriff's investigators said an employee caught the men on a restricted part of the seventh floor of the San Jacinto jail facility. The jail was then put into lockdown.

Houston police secured the perimeter while detention personnel secured the interior. All inmates were accounted for and secured.
The suspected inmates never had access to the public.
An investigation is underway to determine whether the inmates will face additional charges.
