Police officer, 2 others injured in Houston

HOUSTON – An unusual chain of events Saturday night ended with three people, including a Houston Police Officer, injured.

Police said it started at a home on Fairgreen near Martin Luther King Boulevard at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

“Apparently, there was an altercation between the lady and the gentleman at which point the gentleman left that location in the lady's vehicle,” said Sgt. Douglas Ramirez with Houston Police Department.

About 15 minutes later, they said an off-duty officer on his way to work saw the man inside the woman's SUV on the side of Highway 288 near Airport Boulevard.

“His (The officer's) observation was he was injured. He observed what appeared to be an accident so he was like, 'Are you OK,' and before he knew it, the individual got in his car and drove off,” said Ramirez.

They said the man drove the officer's car two miles north and stopped. Officers caught the man and paramedics took him to the hospital.

The officer had minor injuries.

“Fortunately, he's in good physical condition,” said Ramirez.

Police said the woman was expected to be OK. It was unclear on what started the fight.
