Threats made at school after teen killed in Alief drive-by shooting

ALIEF, Texas – Alief Independent School District was on alert Wednesday after someone made threats of a shooting at Alief Taylor High School and it may be connected to a deadly shooting last weekend.

“At school we're suppose to feel safe so, I'm really concerned,” said one student.

Students were worried after someone posted the threat online allegedly in retaliation for the drive-by shooting that killed 13-year-old Kenniec Smith on Saturday night. The crime scene was two miles from the high school.

Students said they've seen an increase of security this week.

“As I was going to lunch, I saw a K-9 unit. I was shocked to see that,” said another student.

Alief ISD was aware of the threat and sent KPRC a statement that said, “Alief PD takes any threats seriously and have increased security in and around the high school.”

Students had a message to those behind the threats.

"There's a lot of innocent kids here. We're just trying to get an education,” said one student.

Houston police said they have not made an arrest in the deadly drive-by shooting on Saturday.
