Police said the men on Dec. 15 tried to rob the Food-To-Go in the 2900 block of Almeda Genoa.
Joe Hillsman was inside buying a lottery ticket. He was able to grab a gun from one of the men and charged toward them, but police said Anderson shot him.
Both robbers ran from the store to a waiting car with a driver inside, according to police.
Hillsman later died in the hospital.
