THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Authorities may have found Thursday the remains of a veteran who went missing more than a year ago.
Brian Oberlin, 44, had been missing since November 2014.
His remains were found in a wooded area nearly a year later this past December, but authorities were unable to confirm the parts belonged to him until today.
Oberlin leaves behind a wife, two daughters and a son.
He was a military veteran who suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. Oberlin was also disabled from a traumatic brain injury he suffered during his last tour of duty.
After he went missing Texas Eqqusearch crews went looking for him with no success.
It's unclear why Oberlin went missing or whether there was any foul play involved.
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results that may indicate how he died.
