HOUSTON – The Houston Independent School District Board of Education is searching for a new superintendent, and trustees are seeking input from community members about the qualities and traits needed in the next district leader.
The board has scheduled 13 meetings in March to gather feedback from the community that will be used to develop a superintendent candidate profile.Â

HISD's chief financial officer and deputy superintendent, Ken Huewitt, will serve as interim superintendent while the board searches for a permanent replacement. Huewitt begins his new role Tuesday, after superintendent Terry Grier steps down.
