An 11-year-old boy shot a suspected burglar at his Talladega home.
"I told him I was going to kill him if he didn't get out of my house," the boy, Chris Gaither, said.
Chris was home alone Wednesday morning when he heard a noise. Someone had broken into his house. Scared, Chirs grabbed a 9 mm handgun.
When he was coming down the stairs, the burglar began to curse at him.
The intruder was heading out the front door with a hamper in his hand and Chris started firing off rounds. A bullet struck the intruder in the leg as he hopped over the fence. It was Chris' 12th shot fired.
"I shot through the hamper he was carrying. It was a full metal jacket bullet. It went straight through the back of his leg. He started crying like a little baby," Chris said.
The family says they do not know the burglar, but believe he may have been a meth addict.
Chris' stepfather taught him how to shoot. The two go target practice shooting together.
