Bujano is accused of killing 18-year-old Kristian Gaona when he was 16. Police say Gaona was walking north on the 6500 block of Ashcroft with three other friends when a newer-model SUV approached them.
One of the people in the vehicle verbally harassed the group. Authorities say that when Gaona did not reply, Bujano fired a weapon at the group. Gaona was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Officials say further investigation identified Bujano as the shooter. After a recent review of the case, HPD investigators found out that Bujano was living in the Houston area.
When he was interviewed by HPD homicide investigators, Houston police say Bujano admitted to his role in the incident. Police say he told them that he fled to Mexico to live with relatives after the shooting.
When he returned to Texas, he used an alias as his name, according to HPD.
