Texas couple robbed at gunpoint, forced to strip on South Beach

MIAMI BEACH. Fla – A couple from Texas came to Miami Beach for a relaxing vacation. Instead, they said they were robbed at gunpoint and forced to strip naked on the beach.

The female victim in her 50s, who did not want to be identified, said she and her boyfriend decided to take a walk shortly before 1a.m. Wednesday after a late dinner on Ocean Drive.

"We were walking and I told my boyfriend, 'Let's sit down for a little bit,'" she said.

She said they noticed someone inside the pink lifeguard stand near 10th Street, shining a flashlight. Soon, she said, she saw two men walking on the sand.

"They started walking towards where we were," she said. "They passed us, and then they came running at us with a gun." 

According to the incident report filed by Miami Beach police, one of the men was holding a black handgun and pointed it toward the couple.

The female victim told Local 10 News they began to curse.

"He said, 'take off your clothes, [expletive]…hurry, give me everything you have,'" she said.

She said she took off her jewelry and rings, and both she and her boyfriend were ordered to take off their clothes.

The pair said they begged the men to leave them alone, and eventually the crooks started running, throwing their clothes along the sand.

Police said the men stole both victims' cellphones, jewelry, cash and credit cards.

According to the incident report,  the victims got dressed and flagged down officers on Ocean Drive.
