HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department has arrested six people, including a juvenile, accused of committing a series of crimes in Northeast Houston that include home burglary, aggravated robbery, auto theft and other charges, police said.
Tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen items were recovered at an undisclosed warehouse and also from stolen vehicles.
At least a half dozen homes and businesses have been targeted since June, police said.
"We found TVs, stereos, and a very large number of game systems, which obviously belong to the kids. That's what really disturbs us about this, is that they're stealing not only from the adults, but the children as well," Greg Shelton, veteran police officer, said.
Starting with a single traffic stop, Shelton and his team unraveled a web of suspects and crimes.
Daniel Diaz, 28; Jessica Zaragosa, 28; Oscar Castro, 20; Mario Cavazos, 20; and a juvenile male, 15, were charged with Felony Theft.
Ruben Morillon, 29 is charged with burglary of habitation and aggravated assault.
Morillon has a distinctive face tattoo of the Houston Texans, which helped identify him to police, Shelton said.
By Monday, Shelton had started contacting the rightful owners of the stolen property, including a man who had all of the tools he uses as a electrician stolen from his home.
"Thank God, I need these tools," said the victim, who wished to remain anonymous.
