CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Besayda Sosa looked at her 4-year-old daughter, Khloe, on Monday and thought about how lucky her little girl is to be alive.
"I don't even want to think about it," Sosa said.
Earlier in the day, a pole impaled the windshield of Sosa's minivan while she was driving in Coral Springs after she lost control of the vehicle, authorities said.
The guardrail pole pierced Sosa's windshield, went right through the passenger seat headrest and stopped about an inch away from the 4-year-old's head.
Sosa said she never saw the pole coming.
Khloe recalled her mom screaming when the pole came through the vehicle.
"She screamed at me (and) she was starting to cry," Khloe said.
The crash was reported in the area of Atlantic Boulevard and Ramblewood Drive.
Coral Springs Fire Rescue officials took photos at the scene, showing that the pole went through the windshield and passenger seat headrest after the woman crashed into a fence.
Khloe was taken to Coral Springs Medical Center as a precaution with a small cut on her forehead.
"(The police) said I'm brave," she said.
