HOUSTON – A man was stabbed during an altercation with a family member Tuesday morning at an apartment complex in the Greenspoint area.
Police said the victim, Elroy McGuin, and his family were inside an apartment in the 600 building at the Worthington Apartments at 1350 Greens Parkway at the time of the stabbing, and that some sort of argument led to the stabbing.
When paramedics arrived around 1 a.m., they found McGuin, 47, lying in his living room. They tried to resuscitate McGuin, then rushed him to the hospital, where he later died.
Investigators said McGuin's family was inside at the time, including several children and a teen. There were also several people outside of the apartment when investigators arrived.
A friend of McGuin's said he was a very generous person and loved to help others. But the friend said he knew something wasn't right after he talked to McGuin late Monday night.
"I did see him last night I knew he was upset. He came and spoke to me, I had to go to work I just brushed him off. I wish I could have seen this coming, maybe I could have done something about the situation," the victim's friend Dantrel Mills said.
The case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
Anyone with additional information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
