HOUSTON – Students at Lone Star College were evacuated on Thursday night after a report of an active shooter, according to a release from the school.
After a thorough search of the campus, police and officials said they believe the 911 call about an active shooter was a "hoax."
The all clear was given by police around 9:15 p.m.
Here is the latest statement from the school:
"After a thorough investigation Lone Star College and the Harris County Sheriff Department have determined the 911 call was a hoax. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates when warranted."
The school initially issued this statement:
"Harris County Sheriff Department received a 911 call from an unknown person saying there was an active shooter at LSC-North Harris. Officials are on the scene to investigate. LSC-North Harris has been evacuated as a precaution. Please stay away from the area."
