HOUSTON – A teenager was arrested Tuesday in connection with the shooting death of a woman who police said was killed during a confrontation with people breaking into her car.
The shooting happened just before midnight Dec. 14 at an apartment complex at Kingsway and Oakhill drives.

Houston police said two people broke into the car of Carla Carias, 22. Carias’ boyfriend and his father heard a noise and went outside, not knowing that Carias had followed them. When the men began yelling at the burglars, the thieves jumped into a black, four-door sedan. As the vehicle was moving away, the driver fired a shot, hitting Carias in the chest.
Carias was taken the Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she died.
Court documents obtained Thursday showed that Broderick Knight, 17, of Houston, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the case.
Knight was charged with capital murder. He was being held in jail without bail.
During a hearing Thursday, prosecutors said that there is a co-defendant in the case, and that the case is believed to be connected to other burglaries.
The identity of Knight’s co-defendant was not immediately released.
