HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Harris County deputies were met with a hail of gunfire while responding to a home invasion and assault where $50,000 was stolen in north Harris County.
The break-in was reported about 6 p.m. in the 10100 block of Rosbrook Court.
Deputies said when officers arrived, they heard 20-30 rounds of gunshots fired from either inside or outside the house.
Bystander Megan Galvan shot video from her cellphone of an officer running into the street, holding his gun. She said it's scary seeing this so close to home.
"There's police officers barricaded over behind a police (cars), and they're ready, they're ready. They’re ready for anything," Galvan said.
Deputies said five to 10 armed men in their 20s ran out the back door of the home.
A large amount of drugs were found inside the home with three children and a teen, according to officials.
Deputies said the homeowner was pistol whipped by the gunmen. He was taken to a hospital. His condition is unknown.
Streets were shut down for several hours, and traffic was detoured at the intersection of Ella and West roads.
Drivers said it was frustrating. They had no idea what was going on or why they were having to wait.
"We don't know what's going on. We got diverted a different way, just coming down here to do a little shopping, and we don't know what happened," Simon Moreno said.
No injuries were reported.
No arrest were made.
The incident is under investigation.
