Two new clubs open week before Super Bowl

Thousands of visitors will descend on Houston in less than a week for Super Bowl 51, and many of them will be looking for a place to enjoy Houston nightlife.

Two new mega-clubs have coordinated their openings ahead of the big game week, and thousands of Super Bowl revelers are expected to visit both.

Club Nomadic is a 62,500-square-foot music venue built in Sawyer Heights, northwest of Downtown Houston.

“The lower level is just going to be jam packed with fans, and all they want to do is see who's playing. And that's the reason for this multi-level structure,” said CEO Jack Murphy.

True to its name, the warehouse is a temporary space constructed specifically for concerts on Super Bowl weekend and boasting headliners like Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars.

Murphy told KPRC Channel 2 that construction crews will begin disassembling the warehouse at “2:30 a.m. on Saturday night” immediately following the venue’s final concert.

A primary challenge for Nomadic will be parking.

Event coordinators stressed that there is absolutely no on-site parking available; instead, there are approximately 2,500 spots available at the Allen Center Garage with shuttle service to and from the venue.

The club is expecting as many as 9,000 attendees per night, so guests are expected to rely heavily on other means of transportation.

Club Nomadic executives said they have been in close contact with Uber to set up a drop-off and pickup point, and noted that they have created a traffic plan in conjunction with the city of Houston.

A spokesperson said the traffic plan is scheduled to be released in the next few days.

Another option for Super Bowl partiers is the newly-opened downtown nightclub, Spire.

The club, located at 1717 Travis Street, occupies the old Church of Christ Scientist.

Co-owner Dallas Rodriguez said renovations on the building began nine months ago.

"We had to get this place open for Super Bowl. There was no going back," Rodriguez said.

Spire will host several Super Bowl parties, including the official Playboy party with Flo Rida the Saturday before the game.
