HOUSTON – About 30 people witnessed two men get shot to death in a west Houston strip club Sunday morning, police said.
Homicide detectives responded to reports of a shooting at the Fantasy Island strip club at 12909 Westheimer Road at 5:50 a.m.
Patrons inside the club told investigators that a large fight broke out between multiple men.
The fight escalated and a couple of men pulled out guns and began to shoot at each other.
Two men were shot and died at the scene.
A family member identified one of the victims as 32-year-old Donnie Gibbs, who was a patron at the club.
"I see this every day on TV, but I never thought it would be me," Donnie Gibbs' father, Henry Gibbs, said. "I don't think I have accepted it yet. I don't think it's hit me yet."
Henry Gibbs went to the club searching for answers.
"Well, my mind is running 100 mph, you know? Especially when you're dealing with street life," he said.
A witness to the incident said she was waiting for her cousin, who worked at the club, when the chaos broke out.
"As soon as we pulled up we seen a bunch of Hispanic guys and they were fighting, and not even a few minutes later..six gunshots," Alexia Castro said.
Police said there may have been more than 30 people who witnessed the crime.
"The hardest part is just sorting through who has the truth and really narrowing it down to who saw what," Sgt. Derek Fontenot said.
The other victim, whose identification is pending, is said to be a Hispanic man in his 30s, officials said.
Homicide detectives are investigating the scene.
