According to Fire Chief Roger Westhoff, the fire started showing out of the backside of the home in the attic around 4 a.m.
The layout of the home made it difficult for firefighters to locate the fire, but they were eventually able to stop it from spreading, officials said.
The residents were safely evacuated and no one was hurt.
Arson will investigate what caused the fire.
