Reward offered for information on two men accused in February Houston man's shooting death

HOUSTON – Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information about two men accused of killing a man, officials said.

Alex Brookins, 22, was shot to death Feb. 16 near Milart Street at 5100 block of Yellowstone Boulevard, police said.

Authorities said at 7:30 p.m. two men got out of a Kia Soul on the corner of Yellowstone Boulevard, and were seen ambushing and shooting Brookins.

His father said he was walking outside with his brother and was killed for no reason.

"He was just walking him and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument. He walked off to cool off and I guess I don't know if they went by the store, but she said there were two guys who looked suspicious at the store over there off of Yelllowstone across from Jim's supermarket. And she said the guys came back and shot Alex," the father said.

The brother was not hurt, authorities said.

Police said they found 5-10 rounds of shells on the street.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging and/or arrest of the suspect in this case.
