ALVIN, Texas – A third person has been arrested and charged in connection with the killing of a nursery worker in Galveston County, authorities said.
Officers obtained a warrant to arrest the man, who was spotted about half a mile from his home Thursday.
Santos Batello rammed a police vehicle when officers were closing in on him, according to police. One of the officers fired two shots at him to flatten his tires, police said.
He was able to drive back to his house, where he was taken into custody.
Batello was arrested as a "person of interest" in the shooting.
He was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and evading arrest detention with a vehicle. Batello is being held on a $250,000 bond for each charge.
Jamie Posada Jr., 23, and his younger brother, 21-year-old Ricardo Posada were charged Wednesday.
The shooting was reported Tuesday morning near the nursery on FM Road 517 and Old Dickinson Road, about four miles east of Alvin.
According to Galveston County deputies, the victim, who works as a caretaker at the nursery, received a call from a relative who said there was a man walking around the property. They said the victim went to the nursery, but did not see the man.
Deputies said that as the victim was leaving the nursery, he noticed a truck parked along the road. They said that as the victim approached the truck, a man inside shot him several times and then fled the scene in the truck.
A manhunt began, which led to a lockdown at one school and heightened security at others.
A picture of the truck seen leaving the area was also circulated.

Investigators said Tuesday night they had two “persons of interest” in custody in connection with the shooting.
They announced Wednesday morning that the pair, identified as Jamie Posada Jr. and his younger brother Ricardo Posada, both of Houston, had been charged.
Court records showed the brothers had been charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the case. They were each being held in jail on $100,000 bond.
Deputies said the pair admitted to investigators that they had been instructed by someone to commit a burglary or theft at the victim’s address. They said the pair did not intend to harm anyone.
Investigators said they are still looking for the person who is accused of instructing the Posadas. They did not immediately provide a description of that person.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
Anyone with information about the case should contact the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office.
