Looter with dog targets Montrose wine bar during Harvey

HOUSTON – A popular Montrose restaurant was burglarized just as Hurricane Harvey hit Houston and they need your help to identify the man who busted in with his dog.

MAX's Wine Dive on Fairview Street shut down early Aug. 26 as Harvey's heaviest rains began to fall.

"The closing manager was on his way out of here, the water was already up to his ankles," said General Manager Kim McDonald.

McDonald used a cell phone app to view surveillance video of the restaurant throughout the night and into the morning and that's when she saw damage that wasn't from Harvey.

"I noticed the window was busted," she said.

When she finally made it into the restaurant that Wednesday, she saw even more damage and more video. The culprit caught on camera.

"One person and his dog," she said.

Surveillance video shows the man on a ladder raiding the restaurant's top-shelf liquor, taking 30 bottles.

He then took advantage of the kitchen.

"He had cooked some shrimp, he had seasoning, sausage patties," McDonald said.

Video also shows the man unsuccessfully trying to break into the cash register.

McDonald later found a random set of keys in the kitchen.

If you have any information on the man responsible for the burglary, you are asked to contact Houston police or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
