Astros' Carlos Beltran launches Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund

HOUSTON – The devastation in Puerto Rico has been especially hard on the Houston Astros. The island is home to several members of the team.

Carlos Correa, Juan Centeno, and Carlos Beltran are all from Puerto Rico.  A bench coach and the team translator also have ties to the island.

Beltran started a Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund.

The Astros' Carlos Beltran, who has already donated $1 million to his home island, teared up during the broadcast of Tuesday night's Astros game against the Rangers while talking about the club's efforts.

"I talked to my brother the other day. He said there's no water to drink. When you hear that and you know that your family. It means a lot to me," Beltran said.

The fund has more than $1.2 million. You can donate by clicking here.

And Beltran's team is also stepping up. The Astros Foundation -- in partnership with Crane Worldwide, FedEx and the Houston mayor's office -- will send 240,000 pounds of supplies to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
