Inside the Lone Star Bike Rally on the Galveston Strand

GALVESTON, Texas – The Lone Star Bike Rally was held Saturday, with 200,000 bikes expected to pass through the Galveston Strand.

Jim Barnes, also known as “Rooster,” has attended the rally every year for the last five years.

Rooster comes along with his flock, the Bone Motorcycle Ministry.

“(You) get to meet a whole lot of people as well and so far, every time I see it, just good interaction,” Barnes said. “No issues"

The motorcycle eye-candy is one thing, but the food is another.

In addition, all the vendors make an admission-free rally worth $115 million. It's money pumped right back into the Houston-Galveston area economy.

Rider Gwen Aparicio, who has been riding a Harley-Davidson since 2005, said the event has gotten larger over the years. She said, for her, Lone Star is all about the camaraderie.

"It's like family,” she said. “When you are on the road, everybody waves to each other, put your hand out, it's just a sign of friendship."

Riders will have one last chance this year on Sunday to roll into town for the rally.
