Thick smoke seen rising from junkyard fire in east Houston

HOUSTON – A thick plume of smoke could be seen Tuesday rising from the site of a large fire in east Houston.

The fire was reported about 1:15 p.m. at a junkyard near the intersection of Harrisburg and Navigation boulevards.

Video from Sky 2 showed firefighters using ladder trucks and a fireboat to control the blaze. A large piece of equipment was also being used to move pieces of debris.

Houston firefighters did not immediately release any other information.
