CONROE, Texas – The woman who is among three people charged in connection with a kidnapping that turned into a fatal FBI raid appeared in court Thursday.
Sophia Heath, Jimmy Sanchez and Nicolas Cunningham were all charged in connection with the kidnapping of Ulises Valladares, 47.
Valladares was shot and killed by an FBI agent last week as those agents were storming a house in an effort to rescue him.
Investigators said Heath was tasked with watching Valladares while he was being held at the Elbert Street home in Houston.
Tony Duckworth, Heath's attorney, said his client sends her apologizes to the victim's family.
"Suffice to say that duress was involved," Duckworth said. "She's not a willing participant in these things."
Heath was being held in jail on $1 million bond. Her next court date is scheduled for March 8.
Sanchez and Cunningham appeared in court Wednesday.
