HOUSTON – Three men robbed a southwest Houston Walmart on Friday, prompting a large police response.
The robbery was reported just after 9 a.m. at the store near the intersection of South Rice Avenue and U.S. Highway 59.
Houston police said three men wearing masks and hoodies robbed some registers inside the store. The trio then fled the scene in a getaway car, police said.
Officials said several police units responded to the call because they had initially received reports that shots had been fired inside the store, and there were conflicting reports about whether the robbers had left the store.
