How to chill at Houston’s hottest hotel pools without spending the night

HOUSTON – Houston is already sizzling. Before we slide into the stifling days of summer, it's a good idea to identify nearby pools where you can chill out. Consumer expert Amy Davis has found some of the coolest hotel pools in the city where you can take a dip even if you're not staying the night.

Houston's Marriott Marquis is known for its Texas-shaped lazy river. An overnight stay at this posh downtown hotel starts at about $300, but when you book any 50-minute massage or facial at the Marquis' Pure spa, you have access to the hotel pool, lazy river, bocce ball and High Dive Bar all day long.

Lounge in a hammock near the Four Seasons rooftop pool all day long when you book a 50-minute spa treatment. The least expensive treatment here is a $140 massage. That is still less expensive than the cheapest room for the night. It was $325 when we checked.

On website Resort Pass you can buy a day pass to the Four Seasons. A weekday in June is $55 for adults, $36 for kids and infants are free. The Four Seasons said it may not continue this deal, but you can still buy the passes now.

Other hotels that offer a pool pass with any spa service include Hotel ZaZa in the museum district. A $140 service gets you access to the pool one hour before and three hours after your treatment.

Hotel Alessandra in downtown Houston offers the same pool pass with any spa treatment.

If you’re looking to cool off, but don’t need the frills Day Use lists hotels that let you pay for the day instead of the night to get all of the amenities. Make sure you check the room rates for an overnight stay compared to the daily rate. We found a couple of deals where it would cost less to just book a room directly through the hotel instead of the day pass through that website. Also, keep these sites in mind when you’re traveling. There are some cool resorts and hotels that let you pay for the day.
