HOUSTON – The Liberty County District Attorney and his wife released a statement Sunday following the attorney’s arrest for an assault charge.
Logan Pickett, 38, was arrested Saturday morning at the Westin Hotel in downtown Houston and charged with assault of a family member. He is accused of assaulting his wife, Megan Pickett.
The couple’s attorney released the following statement:
“Megan and Logan want to thank everyone for all of the prayers and heartfelt support. They will not make any further comment regarding the matter pending in Harris County. They will rely on their strong faith in God and confidence in our justice system to carry their family through this most difficult time. They trust the process will afford them the same dignity, respect and equality as others who encounter our judicial process. Logan will continue to serve the fine folks of Liberty County in the discharge of his duties as District Attorney.”
What happened?
Police said Pickett’s wife seemed scared and was bleeding from her head when she walked into the hotel’s lobby. Police said she asked the front desk clerk to call valet. When the clerk asked Megan Pickett what happened, she told the clerk that her husband pushed during an argument and she hit her head, police said. The clerk called the police and when an officer arrived at the scene, Megan Pickett refused to speak about the incident, police said.
Police said Megan Pickett suffered a laceration to the head, which required three stitches. She was treated by ambulance, but refused further medical attention, police said.
Logan Pickett was arrested at the scene and was booked into the Harris County Jail.
He appeared in court Saturday night where his bond was set at $1,000.
The couple was in Houston for a golf event at Minute Maid. The Picketts have three children together.
Logan Pickett was sworn in as the Liberty County District Attorney on Jan. 1, 2013. His term ends on Dec. 31, 2020.
He has no prior criminal record.
