National Hurricane Center monitoring low pressure off SE Texas coastline

It’s really not that big of a deal

HOUSTON – The National Weather Center is now monitoring a region off the coast of Texas that has a 10% chance of development in the next two days. This is the same low-pressure system that has been bringing showers and storms for a week. This system will continue to bring the threat of heavy rainfall and flooding to our coastal areas.

RELATED: Flood watch in effect south of Houston through Friday morning

Regardless of development, our forecast is unchanged. We are still tracking the potential for heavy rains that could bring flash flooding, especially south of I-10 where we have a flood watch.

Through Friday morning (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)

When our front moves in late Friday this will immediately end the chance for development. Upper-level winds will not be conducive for any tropical systems to form.

Until the front moves in we can see heavy rainfall, so check out our current radar below.

Although the threat is low, it’s a good reminder that we are still in the tropical season. Stay weather-aware!
