Armed men wanted for robbing 2 Houston-area grocery stores

HOUSTON – Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying men believed to be responsible for a grocery store robbery on Aug. 23.

Several men with guns entered the grocery store in the 1600 block of South Voss Road at 6:49 p.m., according to police.

The men jumped over the customer service counter, threatened store employees and took several cash drawers containing an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

The men ran to the parking lot where a getaway vehicle was waiting. The men left the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

Police believe that the same men are responsible for a similar robbery at a store in the 4000 block of Polk Street around 4 p.m. Aug. 25.

Police described one of the men as black, between 20 and 30 years old, between 5 feet, 7 inches and 6 feet, 3 inches tall, wearing a red bandanna over his face, a baseball hat, a red shirt, tan pants and black and white shoes.

Another man was described as black, between 20 and 30 years old, between 5 feet, 7 inches and 6 feet, 3 inches tall, wearing a purple shirt covering his face, a black shirt and tan pants.

A third man was described as black, wearing a white shirt and black pants.

The driver of the getaway vehicle, which was a Dodge Voyager or Caravan, is described as a black man wearing a white shirt.
