HOUSTON – Two armed brothers chased down a pair of thieves who stole their truck in north Houston.
The suspects broke into the truck in the Fallbrook subdivision off Veterans Memorial Drive around 1 a.m. Sunday, triggering the vehicle's alarm.
Deputies said the truck's owner and his brother heard the alarm, went outside to investigate, and saw the two men drive away in their stolen truck and a tan Chevy Suburban.
The brothers chased them to West Road and the North Freeway, investigators said, shooting at the pickup truck and causing the driver to lose control and crash.
Apparently the brothers then pulled up to the thief and kept firing at the truck.
The man inside was shot in the head and died at the scene, deputies said.
The crook in the Suburban drove off in another direction and escaped.
Neither brother was hurt during the incident.
Deputies told Channel 2 the case would be referred to a grand jury; as of Sunday morning no charges had been filed.
