The company has offices in Houston and employs many Houstonians. However, their jobs might by on the fence after the cut.

On their website, Enbridge said they account for 28 percent of daily U.S. crude oil imports.
Officials have not yet said how many jobs in the Houston area are at stake, but there will be 1,000 jobs cut across the U.S.
Michael Barnes, a spokesperson for Enbridge released the following statement:
"This is a difficult time for our colleagues. We have a heavy heart today.
After a careful evaluation, Enbridge has taken the difficult but necessary step to address the overlap in the combined company’s organizational structure. Unfortunately, this means a reduction of approximately 1,000 positions enterprise wide, or about 6 per cent of our workforce in the U.S. and Canada. These workforce reductions are only one component of the synergies we expect to achieve over the coming months as we fully integrate our companies. Throughout this process, Enbridge is committed to treating people fairly and with respect. We are providing support to those leaving the company, as well as those who remain."
The company started out delivering Alberta crude to refineries in 1949, and in February 2017, they finalized their agreement to merge with Spectra Energy Corp.
