Deputies investigating deadly crash in north Houston

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is working to determine if a driver was intoxicated when police say he crashed his car, killing a passenger Sunday morning.

According to deputies it happened around midnight on Airline Drive at Airway Drive in north Houston.

Deputies said a Nissan Altima was speeding southbound on Airline Drive when the driver lost control of the car. The vehicle skidded into the northbound lanes and slammed into a pickup truck.

The passenger of the Nissan Altima died at the scene, deputies said. The driver was taken by Lifeflight to Memorial Herman Hospital in series condition.

The driver of the pickup truck and his female passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, deputies say.

Harris County deputies say the driver will be tested for possible intoxication.

Deputies said the driver may be charged with intoxication manslaughter if he was intoxicated.
