HOUSTON – The Houston Astros will visit the White House as an honor for their World Series championship, but one player who helped the team win the title will not be there, according to NBC Sports.
Former Astros star Carlos Beltran said he will not attend the team's visit to the White House on March 12.
NBC Sports reports Beltran said he wanted to spend time with his family and that this was not about politics or President Donald Trump.
Beltran did add that he was disappointed in the administration's hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. He said, "Being part of the United States, you expect to at least get the same benefits when tragedies like this happen."
The Astros won their first World Series championship in November of last year.
