Legal gambling offered at Post Oak Poker Club in Galleria area

HOUSTON – The action is fast and it’s all about building your stack of chips.

The name of the game is poker and it’s now being played legally at the brand new Post Oak Poker Club.

Can you believe it, playing Texas Hold 'Em, in Texas?

Now you can play any day of the week by joining this new private poker club where gambling is legal.

“Our doors open at 4 p.m. and we typically have a cash game going within 15 minutes of doors open and we have games going all the way till 2 in the morning”, Bill Heuer, one of the owners of the club, said.

You can play any number of different poker games and participate in daily tournaments.

To start, you pay a one-time initiation fee of $10.

Then it’s $15 a day or $150 a month to play.

You also pay for your seat at the table, which will run you $15 an hour or $7.50 every 30 minutes.

Best of all, its legal and does not violate state law because the club takes absolutely nothing in the way of cash from any of the games.

The club offers a dealer and security to make sure everything runs smoothly and fairly.

There’s plenty of food to choose from in the way of burgers and sandwiches and some specialty items like pot roast on Sundays.

For now, it’s BYOB, but that will change when the club gets its liquor license.

“It’s a great way to play with your buddies and watch TV and just hang out and have fun,” Scott Jacob, who just joined the club, said.
