HOUSTON – About 80 members of Texas Task Force One are on the way to Florida to help first responders as Floridians brace for Hurricane Michael.
The group posted a photo on Facebook, showing members of the logistics team loading and making pallets of equipment to take with them. It has been activated by FEMA.
And that's not all, more critical help is on the way to the Gulf of Mexico from a Houston-based company. Sun Coast Resources will be sending fuel and other critical supplies to those in the path of Hurricane Michael.
Sun Coast responded to Hurricane Florence, Harvey, Irma, Maria and dozens of other storms with emergency fuel and other supplies during disasters, which is their specialty.
On Tuesday, workers were loading up trucks and preparing to head to the Gulf with their supplies that will help first responders, hospitals, utilities, communications companies and everyday citizens.
“Most of the trucks are hauling diesel for generators. We have gasoline for some response vehicles ... police, ambulance. That type stuff. We also bring diesel exhaust lubricants that may be needed in the area," said Kyle Lehne with Sun Coast Resources.
Officials with Sun Coast said the company has about 400 workers assisting with efforts related to Hurricane Michael and about 100 of them will head into Michael’s path.
