The rest of the money is being given to about 20,000 families who applied directly to the county for assistance during the public application window that happened last week.
Officials have said the money will be given to eligible individuals and families to help with housing, electricity, food, child care and other essential needs. Recipients will likely get between $1,200 and $1,500 in assistance.
The fund is being managed by the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
