TEXAS CITY, Texas – One person was pronounced dead following a double shooting on Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.
Officers from the Texas City Police Department began to search the area for suspects who they say fled the scene.
The shooting happened around 12:20 p.m. near EF Lowry Expressway and Shiloh, according to Assistant Police Chief Jess Colwell.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the hospital, the other, who was shot in the leg, was being treated at another hospital.
Police began to canvass the immediate area, including two neighboring apartment complexes and a nearby church.
Police cautioned residents in the area to secure themselves inside their homes, locking all doors and windows, and to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
Officials at that scene rushed to another shooting, this one possibly resulting from road rage about a mile away on Hwy 3 and 25th Avenue.
Officials were focusing their attention around a white pickup truck and said someone was shot while driving.
As of Wednesday night, they had not located the shooter.
The victim‘s condition is unknown.
