HOUSTON – Police are investigating after two HISD schools received bomb threats Thursday afternoon.
Pershing Middle School and Hogg Middle School were both placed on lockdown and a shelter-in-place due to the threats.

The lockdown has since been lifted at Pershing Middle School, according to officials.
At Hogg Middle School, students continued to shelter in place and the campus was shut down while authorities investigated.
HISD officials said no injuries have been reported.

PERSHING MIDDLE SCHOOL
This is an important message for Pershing Middle School parents and students from Principal Steven Shetzer. A bomb threat was made against our school. HISD Police and the Houston Police responded immediately and are investigating. As a precautionary measure students sheltered in place. The lockdown has since been lifted and the instruction day continued.
We assure you that we take all threats very seriously as the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Again, this was an important message for Pershing Middle School parents and students from Principal Steven Shetzer.
HOGG MIDDLE SCHOOL
This is an important message for Hogg Middle School parents and students from Principal Vanessa Saldana. We were made aware that a bomb threat has been made against our school. HISD police and the Houston Police responded immediately and are currently on campus investigating. The campus is secure and students are sheltering in place. At this time we are advising parents that access to the campus will be closed until the shelter in place is lifted.
We assure you that we take all threats very seriously as the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Again, this was an important message for Hogg Middle School parents and students from Principal Vanessa Saldana.
Statement from HISD Police Chief Pedro Lopez
The Houston ISD Police Department is investigating bomb threats called into Pershing and Hogg middle schools on Thursday, March 31. Investigating officers believe the threats are likely related and may have been made by the same person. We want to thank the Houston Police Department, the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office and the Bellaire Police Department for their assistance in securing and inspecting our schools during today’s investigation.
