Daylight saving time has arrived; here is what I have to do before I go to bed

Some good reminders about Sunday (Copyright 2022 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.)

HOUSTON – Not only is it spring break, but it is also Daylight Saving Time (DST). Officially DST begins at 2 a.m. on March 12, where you are supposed to advance your clocks ahead by one hour.

I always do this before I go to bed and I have to walk around the house and find every clock that I own and figure out how to advance (spring) them ahead. Then I realize when my head hits the pillow that I will lose an hour of sleep on Sunday. But I will get what seems like an extra hour of daylight in the evenings moving forward, so I guess that could be a good thing.

To be honest, I have no idea what the real benefits to Daylight Saving Time are anymore, but I know that long ago it was to save electricity during World War II, at least that is what I learned in school. Then people just liked it and it stuck around year after year. I just wish that the powers that be would make up their mind about what to do each spring and each fall.

So until then, I must keep on moving all my clocks around twice a year. So have fun tonight changing the clocks and try not to oversleep tomorrow.
