HOUSTON – Houston Police Chief Troy Finner joined area partners and stakeholders to announce a citywide initiative for boosting community safety on Wednesday morning.
HPD says it is taking steps to boost safety in the community and asking the community for its help. The department will launch a campaign called Project Safe View, which asks people to put their cameras up.

Chief Finner said everyone, whether public or private, should look into installing cameras and license plate readers to help deter crime.
HPD is asking for people who put up cameras are asked to hold the footage for at least 30 days but says this is completely voluntary and they won’t be enforcing the request.
