According to the Houston Police Department, Albert Walker Mondane, more commonly known by his stage name Sauce Walka, has been charged with evading arrest or detention.
He appeared in court on Friday where a judge revoked his initial bond of $15,000 and increased it to $35,000.
Court documents show that he was then taken back into custody by the sheriff.
Mondane is accused of leading police on a 130-mile-per-hour chase for more than two miles until he crashed his Jeep truck.
The day after his release, Mondane took to social media to explain what happened.
“I don’t know how I do it every time but I come out untouched,” Walka said in a now-deleted video. “I want to say thank you to the universe. Thank you to the stars. Thank you to everything in this universe that brought me out through the situation safe cause I could’ve lost my life.”
Mondane said that he led officers on a chase because he thought he was being profiled by the Houston Police Department.
“I thought I was getting profiled,” he said. “I thought they were trying to get me.”
The incident took place on Wednesday, and by Thursday night, Walka was seen performing in front of a massive crowd at the Toyota Center during a Rod Wave concert.
He showcased the concert on his Instagram where one commenter said, “Fresh outta wreck/cuffs to the stage…🗣️LEGENDARY!🔥”
Sauce Walka’s criminal past
In 2018, during an interview with KPRC 2 Investigates reporter Robert Arnold, Mondane admitted he’s had past trouble.
Houston police said back in 2009, Mondane went by ‘A-Walk’ and was a member of a “criminal street gang” called “Mash Mode.”
Court records show he was charged with shooting and wounding a person on the campus of Texas Southern University during a concert.
According to court documents, Mondane pleaded guilty to deadly conduct and served out his community supervision.
After that, Mondane said he put that life behind him.
“That was just me being a younger myself, and I have matured and grown up to a man now, and I have a family and I take care of a lot of people and I just do business now,” Mondane said in 2018.
