Grandfather killed after bullet goes through house during party shooting

One person is dead, and a second person was hospitalized after a shooting in southeast Houston on Sunday, according to the Houston Police Department. (KPRC)

HOUSTON – A man was fatally shot during his grandson’s birthday party after a bullet went through a house during a shooting in southeast Houston Sunday, according to the Houston Police Department.

The victim was a 67-year-old man.

Authorities previously stated they had a suspect in custody. Investigators later provided more information and said they are still looking for two suspects.

Houston officers responded to a shooting at a house party the 8000 block of Juliabora Street at about 1:10 a.m.

People learned about the party on social media, and several individuals who had not been invited arrived.

An argument started between some groups of people in the front yard. Then, at least two people fired shots at the house. One of these bullets struck the victim.

A juvenile female as also shot in the foot. She was hospitalized and expected to recover. The victims have not been identified.

After the incident, several people scattered into the street with guns and many were detained. Police said they could face charges.

This shooting is under investigation.
