HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A family is recounting the frightening moments after a man was found in a bed in their home after breaking in to get help after a deadly crash.
The bizarre chain of events led to a woman’s death early Wednesday. Alexander Rodriguez-Olivares is charged with intoxicated manslaughter in the crash.
The crash happened around 3 a.m. near Killough Drive and West Montgomery.
The Suarez family said they were asleep inside their home when the suspect in the crash broke through a window.
Surveillance video from the crash shows a BMW crashing through fences before flipping multiple times.
Rodriguez-Olivares car landed in Carlos Suarez’s front yard. Suarez said he and his wife were the only ones home.
The suspect reportedly banged on the door and yelled for help. Moments later, he was able to get inside through a back window.
Suarez showed KPRC 2′s reporter Corley Peel the broken window glass where Rodriguez-Olivares used a rock to break into the home.
He said by the time Rodriguez-Olivares smashed the window, the family was already outside.
Once the suspect made his way inside the home, the homeowner said he was found passed out on a bed. The homeowner said the room was covered in blood.
The Suarez’s said they heard Rodriguez yelling for help and asking for forgiveness from his mother.
Investigators believe Rodriguez-Olivares was driving drunk.
As the remains of Rodriguez-Olivares’ BMW were removed from the property, Suarez said he is grateful he and his wife weren’t hurt.
