Lyft drivers in the Houston area and across the country are expressing their frustrations with the rideshare company after they were unable to withdraw the money they’ve earned on rideshare trips due to a glitch.
“By the time I got through and ready to quit for the evening I went to cash out and in the cash out portion only showed 47 dollars and then when I tried to cash that out there is usually an 85 cent transaction fee, well it charged me the 85 cents and didn’t send even the 47 dollars,” said driver Byron Zealey.
Zealey told KPRC he’s been driving for Lyft for six years and worked for about 10 hours on New Year’s Eve.
“A lot of drivers are pulling in $600, $650 on New Year’s eve, I barely cleared 200 dollars tonight,” said Zealey.
KPRC found that many others were dealing with similar situations and were voicing their frustrations and concerns on X, formally known as Twitter.
“@LYFT @HELPLYFT What’s going on with the earnings not reflecting correct amounts of trips taken? Can’t pay bills due to cash out being unavailable,” X user IreP_Htown wrote.

“@lyft I know I’m missing well over $300 that’s not even showing up! Nor is my ride count. I worked a 12hr shift on new years,” X user LoyalTeezy wrote.
Zealey wasn’t sure what was causing the issues but said he reported the problem to Lyft.
KPRC contacted the ride share company. In a statement, a Lyft spokesperson said: “We are aware of an issue impacting some drivers. Our team has been working quickly to resolve it as soon as possible so that drivers see and receive their correct earnings.”
